This LEP antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 8-37 amino acids from the N-terminal region of human LEP.
Bio Background
This gene encodes a protein that is secreted by whiteadipocytes, and which plays a major role in the regulation of bodyweight. This protein, which acts through the leptin receptor, functions as part of a signaling pathway that can inhibit foodintake and/or regulate energy expenditure to maintain constancy ofthe adipose mass. This protein also has several endocrinefunctions, and is involved in the regulation of immune andinflammatory responses, hematopoiesis, angiogenesis and woundhealing. Mutations in this gene and/or its regulatory regions causesevere obesity, and morbid obesity with hypogonadism. This gene hasalso been linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus development.
