Background	Mediates the voltage-dependent sodium ion permeability of excitable membranes. Assuming opened or closed conformations in response to the voltage difference across the membrane, the protein forms a sodium-selective channel through which Na+ ions may pass in accordance with their electrochemical gradient. George A.L. Jr., Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 89:4893-4897(1992).
Buffer	Rabbit IgG in phosphate buffered saline (without Mg2+ and Ca2+), pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol.
Purification Method	The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen.
