Storage Conditions	IL-21 antibody is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20˚ C. The reconstituted antibody is stable for at least two weeks at 2-8˚ C. Frozen aliquots are stable for at least 6 months when stored at -20˚ C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Background	A novel cytokine was recently identified in human and mouse and designated IL-21, which has significant homology to IL-2, IL-4, and IL-15. The receptor for IL-21 (IL-21R, also termed NILR for novel Interleukin receptor) is a new member of the class I cytokine receptor family. IL-21R forms a complex with the common cytokine receptor g chain, gc, and mediates IL-21 signaling. IL-21 and its receptor activate JAK-STAT signaling pathway. IL-21 is expressed in activated T cells, and HL-60 and THP-1 cell lines. IL-21 plays a role in the proliferation and maturation of NK, B and T cell populations.

Application Note	ELISA: Indirect: To detect mIL-21 by indirect ELISA (using 100 μ L/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.5 - 2.0 μ g/mL of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, allows the detection of at least 0.2 - 0.4 ng/well of recombinant mIL-21. Sandwich To detect mIL-21 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 μ L/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.5 - 2.0 μ g/mL of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with our biotinylated Anti-Murine IL-21 as a detection antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2 - 0.4 ng/well of recombinant mIL-21. Western Blot: To detect mIL-21 by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1 - 0.2 μ g/mL. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant mIL-21 is 1.5 - 3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.
Immunogen	Produced from sera of rabbits pre-immunized with highly pure (>98%) recombinant mIL-21 (Murine Interleukin-21). Murine IL-21 specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing immobilized mIL-21 matrix.
