Storage Conditions	The lyophilized FGF-16 is best-stored desiccated below 0C. Reconstituted FGF-16 should be stored in working aliquots at -20C. Freeze/thaw cycles will result in significant loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Description	The FGFs play key roles in controlling tissue growth, morphogenesis, and repair in animals. Fibroblast Growth Factor-16 is a newly discovered heparin binding growth factor that stimulates the proliferation and activation of cells that express FGF receptors. Human FGF-16 is a 23.7 kDa protein containing 207 amino acid residues.
Formulation	The sterile filtered solution was lyophilized from 5 mM Sodium Phosphate, pH 7.2 + 25 mM NaCl. The protein may appear as a haze or film, which may not be seen at the bottom of the vial.
Reconstitution	Centrifuge vial prior to opening. The human FGF-16 should be reconstituted in 0.5 x PBS to a concentration of 1 mg/ml. This solution can be diluted in water or other buffer solutions or stored at -20C. For most, in vitro, applications, FGF-16 exerts its biological activity in the concentration range of 0.1 to 20.0 ng/ml.
Biological Activity	Human FGF-16 is fully biologically active when compared to standards. The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of thymidine uptake by BaF3 cells expressing FGF receptors is 0.5-1.0 ng/ml.
