Store at -80C. As with any protein, exposing TDO2 recombinant protein to repeated freeze/thaw cycles is not recommended. When working with proteins care should be taken to keep recombinant protein at a cool and stable temperature. During shipment, small volumes of TDO2 recombinant protein will occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial. For products with volumes of 200 uL or less, we recommend gently tapping the vial on a hard surface or briefly centrifuging the vial in a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container’s cap

The tetramer binds two molecules of protoheme IV. It is a homotetramer involved in tryptophan catabolism. There is a broad specificity towards tryptamine and derivatives including D- and L-tryptophan, 5-hydroxytryptophan and serotonin. This gene encodes a heme enzyme that plays a critical role in tryptophan metabolism by catalyzing the first and rate-limiting step of the kynurenine pathway. Increased activity of the encoded protein and subsequent kynurenine production may also play a role in cancer through the suppression of anti tumor immune responses, and single nucleotide polymorphisms in this gene may be associated with autism.
