Description of target	Associates with IL27 to form the IL-27 interleukin, a heterodimeric cytokine which functions in innate immunity. IL-27 has pro- and anti-inflammatory properties, that can regulate T-helper cell development, suppress T-cell proliferation, stimulate cytotoxic T-cell activity, induce isotype switching in B-cells, and that has diverse effects on innate immune cells. Among its target cells are CD4 T-helper cells which can differentiate in type 1 effector cells (TH1), type 2 effector cells (TH2) and IL17 producing helper T-cells (TH17). It drives rapid clonal expansion of naive but not memory CD4 T-cells. It also strongly synergizes with IL-12 to trigger interferon-gamma/IFN-gamma production of naive CD4 T-cells, binds to the cytokine receptor WSX-1/TCCR. Another important role of IL-27 is its antitumor activity as well as its antiangiogenic activity with activation of production of antiangiogenic chemokines.

Kit principle	The test principle applied in this kit is Sandwich enzyme immunoassay. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Epstein Barr Virus Induced Protein 3 (EBI3). Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Epstein Barr Virus Induced Protein 3 (EBI3). Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain Epstein Barr Virus Induced Protein 3 (EBI3), biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of Epstein Barr Virus Induced Protein 3 (EBI3) in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): 3 samples with low, middle and high level Epstein Barr Virus Induced Protein 3 (EBI3) were tested on 3 different plates, 8 replicates in each plate.
