Description of target
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family. This cytokine is a pleiotropic cytokine involved in various immune responses, inflammatory processes, and hematopoiesis. This cytokine is produced by monocytes and macrophages as a proprotein, which is proteolytically processed and released in response to cell injury, and thus induces apoptosis. This gene and eight other interleukin 1 family genes form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 2. It has been suggested that the polymorphism of these genes is associated with rheumatoid arthritis and Alzheimer' s disease.

Kit principle
This Interleukin 1 Alpha (IL1A) ELISA kit is intended for laboratory research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. The stop solution changes color from blue to yellow and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm using a spectrophotometer. In order to measure the concentration of Interleukin 1 Alpha (IL1A) in the sample, this Interleukin 1 Alpha (IL1A) ELISA Kit includes a set of calibration standards. The calibration standards are assayed at the same time as the samples and allow the operator to produce a standard curve of optical density versus Interleukin 1 Alpha (IL1A) concentration. The concentration of the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.
Sample Type
Cell culture supernatant, serum, plasma (EDTA, citrate, heparin)
