Description of target
This gene encodes a member of the glycosyl hydrolase 35 family of proteins. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, at least one of which encodes a preproprotein that is proteolytically processed to generate the mature lysosomal enzyme. This enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of a terminal beta-linked galactose residue from ganglioside substrates and other glycoconjugates. Mutations in this gene may result in GM1-gangliosidosis and Morquio B syndrome.

Kit principle
This Galactosidase Beta 1 (GLB1) ELISA kit is intended for laboratory research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. The stop solution changes color from blue to yellow and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm using a spectrophotometer. In order to measure the concentration of Galactosidase Beta 1 (GLB1) in the sample, this Galactosidase Beta 1 (GLB1) ELISA Kit includes a set of calibration standards. The calibration standards are assayed at the same time as the samples and allow the operator to produce a standard curve of optical density versus Galactosidase Beta 1 (GLB1) concentration. The concentration of the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.
Sample Type
Cell culture supernatant, serum, plasma (EDTA, citrate, heparin)
