Description of target
Ceruloplasmin is a blue, copper-binding (6-7 atoms per molecule) glycoprotein. It has ferroxidase activity oxidizing Fe(2+) to Fe(3+) without releasing radical oxygen species. It is involved in iron transport across the cell membrane. Provides Cu(2+) ions for the ascorbate-mediated deaminase degradation of the heparan sulfate chains of GPC1. May also play a role in fetal lung development or pulmonary antioxidant defense (By similarity).

Kit principle
The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Ceruloplasmin (CP). Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Ceruloplasmin (CP). Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then the mixture of substrate A and B is added to generate glow light emission kinetics. Upon plate development, the intensity of the emitted light is proportional to the Ceruloplasmin (CP) level in the sample or standard.
Kit recovery
Matrix - Recovery range (%) - Average(%)
Serum (n=5) - 98-105 - 102
EDTA Plasma (n=5) - 88-96 - 92
Heparin Plasma (n=5) - 78-104 - 83
Kit reproducibility
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): 3 samples with low, middle and high level Ceruloplasmin (CP) were tested 20 times on one plate, respectively. Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): 3 samples with low, middle and high level Ceruloplasmin (CP) were tested on 3 different plates, 8 replicates in each plate. CV(%) = SD/meanX100 Intra-Assay: CV<10% Inter-Assay: CV<12%
Sample Type
Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids
