Description
Fibroblast Growth Factor-17 (FGF-17) is a heparin binding growth factor that is a member of the FGF family. Proteins of this family play multiple roles in biological functions, including angiogenesis, mitogenesis, cell differentiation and wound repair. FGF-17 plays an important role in organizing and inducing specific patterning at the midbrain/hindbrain junction. FGF-17 is also expressed in the hindgut, parts of thedeveloping skeleton, tail bud, major arteries, and heart. FGF-17 signals through hFGFR1c, 2c, 3c, and 4. FGF-17 signals induce patterning of the embryonic brain.
Recombinant Human FGF-17 produced in E .coli is a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 195 amino acids. A fully biologically active molecule rhFGF-17 has a molecular mass of 22.6 kDa analyzed by reducing SDS-PAGE and is obtained by chromatographic techniques at GenScript.
