Immunogen:
Fc alpha receptors from U937 cell line.
Specificity:
CD89 antigen (Fc alpha R) is a 50-75 kDa single chain transmembrane glycoprotein. -Fc alpha R can bind both monomeric and polymeric forms of IgA1 and IgA2 antibodies (1). The identified Fc alpha R gene encodes six potential N-glycosylation sites in the predicted extracellular region (2). The selective expression of Fc alpha R by myeloid lineage cells has been confirmed by analysis of Fc alpha R mRNA expression (2). A3 recognizes nonpolymorphic determinant located outside of the IgA-binding site of the Fc alpha R molecules (3). -The antibody stains more than 99% of peripheral blood granulocytes and 13+7% of the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (3). The majority of this subpopulation of blood mononuclear cells is CD15+. whereas CD3+ T cells. CD19+ B cells and CD57+ NK are non reactive (3). The bone marrow the antibody reacts with 50 - 75% of the myelomonocytic cells and granulocytes (3). The antibody does not block IgA binding.

Function:
Binds to the Fc region of immunoglobulins alpha. Mediates several functions including cytokine production.
Subunit:
Associates with the Fc epsilon RI gamma 2 receptor inducing tyrosine phosphorylation of gamma 2.

Isoform B-delta-S2: Secreted.
Tissue Specificity:
Differentially expressed between blood and mucosal myeloid cells. Monocytes express isoform A. 1 isoform A. 2 and isoform A. 3 while alveolar macrophages express isoform A. 1 and isoform A. 2; however they express only one isoform at their surfaces.
Similarity:
Contains 2 Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domains.
