Genway ID:
GWB-2439B6
Subclass:
IgG1
Clone:
RV202
Specificity:
RV202 reacts exclusively with vimentin. which is expressed in mesenchymal cells and mesenchymal derived tumors e. g. lymphoma. sarcoma and melanoma. RV202 is suitable for immunoblotting. immunocytochemistry. immunohistochemistry on frozen tissues and flow cytometry. Optimal antibody dilution should be determined by titration; recommended range is 1:100 ? 1:200 for flow cytometry. and for immunohistochemistry with avidin-biotinylated horseradish peroxidase complex (ABC) as detection reagent. and 1:100 ? 1:1000 for immunoblotting applications. Product
Note:
Each vial contains 100 ?l 1 mg/ml purified antibody in PBS containing 0. 09% sodium azide. Vimentin (57 kDa) is the intermediate filament protein (IFP) of mesenchymal cells. This IFP however often deviates from the tissue-specific and developmentally regulated pattern of expression. Besides its typical expression in most cultured cells. vimentin is also expressed together with several other IFPs during early stages of development. As differentiation proceeds. vimentin is exchanged for the tissue-specific intermediate filament type. Also in cancers. vimentin is often expressed in addition to the tissue-specific IFP
Function:
Vimentins are class-III intermediate filaments found in various non-epithelial cells especially mesenchymal cells.
Subunit:
Homopolymer. Component of a complex composed at least of ACTB AP2M1 AP2A1 AP2A2 MEGF10 and VIM. Interacts with HCV core protein.
Tissue Specificity:
Highly expressed in fibroblasts some expression in T- and B-lymphocytes and little or no expression in Burkitt\' s lymphoma cell lines. Expressed in many hormone-independent mammary carcinoma cell lines.
Ptm:
One of the most prominent phosphoproteins in various cells of mesenchymal origin. Phosphorylation is enhanced during cell division at which time vimentin filaments are significantly reorganized.
Similarity:
Belongs to the intermediate filament family. 1. Ramaekers. F. Huysmans. A. Schaart. G. Moesker. O. and Vooijs. P. (1987). Tissue distribution of keratin 7 as monitored by a monoclonal antibody.
