CD236R
Clone:
BRIC10
Immunogen:
Human erythrocytes
Preparation:
Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography on Protein G
Buffer Solution:
Tris buffered glycine pH7. 4
Preservative Stabilisers:
0. 09%Sodium AzideSuggested
Flow Cytometry:
Use 10ul of the suggested working dilution to label 106 cells in 100ul.
Function:
This protein is a minor sialoglycoprotein in human erythrocyte membranes. The blood group Gerbich antigens and receptors for Plasmodium falciparum merozoites are most likely located within the extracellular domain. Glycophorin C plays an important role in regulating the stability of red cells.
Subcellular Location:
Cell membrane; Single-pass type III membrane protein. Note=Linked to the membrane via Band 4. 1.
Tissue Specificity:
Glycophorin C is expressed in erythrocytes. Glycophorin D is ubiquitous.
Polymorphism:
GYPC is responsible for the Gerbich blood group system. 1. Dahr. W. et al. (1989) High frequency antigens of human erythrocyte membrane sialoglycoproteins VI. Monoclonal antibodies reacting with the N-terminal domain of glycophorin C. 2. Anstee. D. J. et al. (1984) Individuals lacking the Gerbich blood-group antigen have alterations in the human erythrocyte membrane sialoglycoproteins beta and gamma.
