Immunogen:	A synthetic peptide from aa 1491-1508 of the alpha subunit of rat type I voltage-gated sodium channel. Voltage-gated sodium channels (VGSC) are present in most excitable cells. In neuronal tissue they are responsible for generating and propagating action potentials. Brain VGSCs are heteromers of alpha beta 1 beta 2 subunits. Of these the a subunit forms the channel pore. This antibody recognizes the alpha subunit of type I voltage-gated sodium channel.
