Another service of our exclusive partner AcceGen is the construction of miRNA sponge vector clones. miRNAs regulate multiple genes and are thus present in virtually all cell processes. MicroRNA sponges contain high-affinity tandem binding sites for their respective target RNA. They are introduced exogenously and prevent the miRNA / mRNA interaction as competitive regulators. Sponge sequences must be carefully optimized to ensure highly specific binding with the target RNA and to avoid interactions.

AcceGen Biotechnology is a pioneer in the development of micro-RNA tools. The latest achievement is the agomir / antagomir synthesis. These are chemically modified single-stranded (= antagomir) and double-stranded (= agomir) miRNA imitators. Due to the high affinity of the AcceGen products for the cell membrane, the amount of transfection reagents in cell transfection experiments can be drastically reduced. They are also useful for long-term miRNA studies because they inhibit miRNAs for up to 5-6 weeks. By injection and high stability, they are also suitable for in vivo animal studies of RNAi.
