Rabbit DimAb™

Rabbits have a unique B-cell development process. In addition, rabbit B cells use a dual affinity maturation mechanism, including gene conversion and SHM (somatic hypermutation). At the same time, rabbit IgG have a unique protein structure that differs from mouse IgG, including an IgG subtype, a more non-canonical CC for the light chain, a large variation in length and sequence for CDR3, etc. These differences can lead to rabbits producing antibodies with high affinity and high diversity. In recent years rabbit monoclonal antibodies have become increasingly popular in various immunological assay developments, particularly for immunohistochemical applications. In the past, rabbit monoclonal development technology required a proprietary rabbit myeloma cell line, which limited its use in many areas. Currently, the new proprietary DimAbTM technology platform by DIMA Biotechnology offers a major technological breakthrough in this area. IgG genes can be isolated directly from positive B cell clones without the use of myeloma cells. This not only makes it possible to shorten the development time, but also to capture the genetic coding information of IgG directly without risking the loss of hybridoma cells.
