Description	Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is a member of the neurotrophin family. Its expression in the human central nervous system is altered in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. BDNF promotes survival of dopaminergic neurons and protects against Abeta-induced neurotoxicity in vitro and in vivo.
