GDF-7 belongs to the TGF-beta superfamily of growth and differentiation factors. It is expressed selectively by roof plate cells that are located in the developing embryonic central nervous system, and has been shown to influence the neuronal identity of cells within the central nervous system. GDF-7 has also been implicated in the formation, maintenance, and repair of certain cartilage and ligament tissues. Recombinant Human GDF-7 is a 28kDa disulfide-linked homodimer containing two 129 amino acid residues.

Recombinant corresponding to human BMP-12. expressed in E.coli.

Biological Activity:
Determined by its ability to inhibit induced alkaline phosphatase production by ATDC-5 chondrogenic cells.

Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O containing 0.1% BSA. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
