Description
GALE, also known as uDP-glucose 4-epimeraes, is a protein that functions as the third enzyme in the Leloir pathway of galactose metabolism. It is a homodimeric epimerase found in bacterial, plant, and mammalian cells. This enzyme promotes the reverse chemical reaction, the conversion of uDP-glucose to uDP-galactose. uDP-galactose is used to build galactose-containing proteins and fats, which play critical roles in chemical signaling, building cellular structures, transporting molecules, and producing energy.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
