Description
CD105 (26-176 a.a.) or Endoglin or GP160 is a Type I transmembrane protein, which is highly expressed on human vascular endothelial cells, activated macrophages, fibroblasts, and smooth muscle cells. It exists as an O- and N-glycosylated homodimer of 180kD. Up-regulation of endoglin expression has been demonstrated in tumor vasculature and proliferating cells, suggesting that it is a proliferation-associated endothelial cell marker. Endoglin has been found to be part of the TGF-beta1 receptor complex. It thus may be involved in the binding of TGF-beta1, TGF beta3, activin-A, BMP-2, and BMP-7. CD105 binds to TGF Beta1 and Beta3 with high affinity but not TGF-Beta2Beside TGF-beta signaling endoglin may have other functions. It has been postulated that endoglin is involved in the cytoskeletal organization affecting cell morphology and migration. Endoglin has a role in the development of the cardiovascular system and in vascular remodeling. Its expression is regulated during heart development. Experimental mice without the endoglin gene die due to cardiovascular abnormalities.

CD105 Human Recombinant extracellular domain produced in baculovirus is a homodimeric, glycosylated, polypeptide containing 586 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 61kD but as a result of glycosylation, migrates at 90kD under reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.

Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA, Inhibition Assays and Western Blot. Other applicatios not tested.

Biological Activity:
Measured by its ability to bind with rhTGF-beta RII/Fc in a functional ELISA.

Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with PBS, 0.1% HSA or BSA. Aliquot and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Shelf Life
6 months
