Storage Conditions
Lyophilized Human TRAIL proteinshould be stored desiccated below -20°C. Upon reconstitution, the protein should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -20°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.20% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Background
The protein encoded by Tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis inducing ligand (TRAIL) is a cytokine that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. This protein preferentially induces apoptosis in transformed and tumor cells, but does not appear to kill normal cells although it is expressed at a significant level in most normal tissues. The binding of this protein to its receptors has been shown to trigger the activation of MAPK8/JNK, caspase 8, and caspase 3.
Description
Human TRAIL protein, expressed in E. coli
Formulation
Lyophilized from sterile 20 mM Tris, 150 mM NaCl, pH 8.0.
Precautions
The product listed herein is for research use only and is not intended for use in human or clinical diagnosis. Suggested applications of our products are not recommendations to use our products in violation of any patent or as a license. Features & Benefits
Endotoxin: < 1.0 EU per µg of the protein as determined by the LAL method.
Usage Notes
Always centrifuge tubes before opening. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Human TRAIL protein using the buffer we provided not less than 100 µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Preparation method
E. coli
Activity
Measured by its ability to induce cytotoxicity in the presence of the metabolic inhibitor actinomycin D.The ED50 for this effect is 26.27 ng/mL.
Protein length
The recombinant human TRAIL consists of 168 amino acids and has a predicted molecular mass of 19.5 KDa.
