The ITCH/AIP4 protein, a member of the Nedd4 family of ubiquitin ligases, transfers ubiquitin to protein substrates for lysosomal degradation. It regulates cell differentiation and immune responses and is associated with autoimmune disease. Alternative splicing produces multiple isoforms. ITCH/AIP4 is expressed ubiquitously, with notable levels in the testis, esophagus, and 25 other tissues.
