Description: BIO-acetoxime (also known as GSK-3 Inhibitor X; BIA), a synthetic derivative of a compound from the Mediterranean mollusk Hexaplex trunculus, is a novel, potent and selective dual inhibitor of GSK3alpha/beta (glycogen synthase kinase-3) with potential anti-infection and anticonvulsant as well as anticancer effects. It inhibits GSK3alpha/beta with IC50s of 10 nM, and displayed > 240-fold selectivity for GSK over CDK5/p25, CDK2/cyclin A and CDK1/cyclin B.
