It is under development as an adjunct to antipsychotics for the treatment of persistent negative symptoms or suboptimally-controlled positive symptoms associated with schizophrenia. Bitopertin-mediated glycine reuptake inhibition may represent a novel treatment option for schizophrenia, with the potential to address negative symptoms.
