Silver benzoate is an aromatic salt that is used as a catalyst to prepare beta-amino acids (such as N-Acetyl-beta-alanine [A168070]) from alpha-amino acids (such as D-Alanine [A480995]). Silver benzoate is also used as a catalyst in Wolff rearrangement reactions.
