Supplied as an orange to deep red powder.

CPRG is a long-wavelength dye which is commonly used for colorimetric assays. The reaction product has a dark red color and is soluble in water. It can be evaluated photometrically at 574 or 578nm. Chlorophenol Red-β-D-galactopyranoside measures β-galactosidase expression levels in transfected cells. Chlorophenol Red-β-D-galactopyranoside is a substrate of β-Galactosidase.
