Genway ID:
GWB-64B71B
Specificity:
CD38NCBI
Gene ID:
952
Specificity:
CD38
Clone:
AT13/5
Fusion Partner:
Spleen cells from immunised BALB/c mice were fused with cells of the mouse NS1 myeloma cell line.
Specificity Note:
This product recognises the human CD38 cell surface antigen a 45kD glycoprotein. CD38 is expressed by plasma cells monocytes early lymphoid cells and activated T cells. CD38 is widely used to study the processes of T and B cell differentiation and activation. Recently CD38 has been shown to possess ADP-ribosyl cyclase activity.
Preparation:
Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography on Protein A
Buffer Solution:
Phosphate buffered saline pH7. 4
Preservative Stabilisers:
0. 09%Sodium Azide1%Bovine Serum AlbuminSuggested
Flow Cytometry:
Use 10ul of the suggested working dilution to label 106 cells or 100ul whole blood. Suggested
Dilution:
Flow Cytometry - Neat
Function:
Synthesizes cyclic ADP-ribose a second messenger for glucose-induced insulin secretion. Also has cADPr hydrolase activity. Also moonlights as a receptor in cells of the immune system.
Catalytic Activity:
NAD+ + H2O = ADP-ribose + nicotinamide.
Enzyme Regulation:
ATP inhibits the hydrolyzing activity.
Subcellular Location:
Membrane; Single-pass type II membrane protein.
Tissue Specificity:
Expressed at high levels in pancreas liver kidney brain testis ovary placenta malignant lymphoma and neuroblastoma. Developmental Stage: Preferentially expressed at both early and late stages of the B and T-cell maturation. It is also detected on erythroid and myeloid progenitors in bone marrow where the level of surface expression was shown to decrease during differentiation of blast-forming unit E to colony-forming unit E.
Similarity:
Belongs to the ADP-ribosyl cyclase family. 1. Malavasi. F. et al. (1994) Human CD38: a glycoprotein in search of a function. 2. Ellis. J. H. et al. (1995) Engineered anti-CD38 monoclonal antibodies for immunotherapy of multiple myeloma.
